Anticlastic Forming

Trying my hand at Anticlastic forming has been very exciting. The ideas are endless...

Anticlastic forming is when two principal curves bend in opposite directions.

Fold Forming Workshop

Last Saturday I attended a Fold Forming Workshop taught by Fred Zweig. Fold forming is a wonderful process developed and promoted by Charles Lewton-Brain. It is just amazing what can be done with a flat sheet of metal. We tried our hand at several different folds that day and it has my brain running a mile a minute with new ideas of things to make!

My first gold project.

Working with gold has been something I have been wanting to try for a long time but just couldn't bring myself to pay the going prices so I turned to my jewelry box to see if there was anything I could recycle! To my surprise I found several things that where in need of repair and would cost more to have fixed then they originally cost. Off to the melting pot i went with my treasures. To my delight I ended up with a nice sized ingot in which to play with!

14K Gold, Fine Silver & Smoky Quartz
For my first project I decided to go ahead and use fine silver for my step bezel. I think it actually turned out pretty nice!
